Give your child a full week of focused, high-level chess training led by International Master and FIDE Master. The CCL Summer Chess Camp is a 30-hour immersive program designed to strengthen calculation skills, deepen strategic understanding, and build tournament confidence in a fun and structured learning environment.
Camp Details
Head Coach: IM Atanas Kizov (2445 Elo; Macedonia National Champion, Captain of Team Macedonia at the Chess Olympiad, CCL Chess Head Coach Since 2016)
Assistant Coach: FM Christopher Shen (2429 Elo; US Junior Open Champion, US Military Champion, Multiple National Champions of Scholastic Chess, PanAM U18 Silver Medalist, World Youth Bronze Medalist, Captain of Harvard Chess Team)
Special Guest of National Master will be invited to give lecture and game analysis upon the enrollment.

Who Should Attend?
This camp welcomes students with US Chess ratings between 600 and 1900.
Players are grouped by:
- Age
- Rating level
- Tournament experience
This ensures every camper receives instruction that is appropriately challenging and engaging.
Daily Training Structure
Each day provides six hours of intensive, practical chess training:
- ♟ Puzzle competition to warm up
- 🎓 Three 60-minute instructional training sessions
- 🏆 In-camp Rapid, Blitz, and Bughouse Tournaments for Medals & Trophies
Every day features new training themes, allowing flexible attendance for students joining individual days or multiple days.
What Students Will Learn
Our curriculum balances tactical sharpness with long-term strategic understanding.
Tactical Training Includes:
- Attacking a king stuck in the center
- Attacking against castled kings
- Thematic attacking patterns (including the g7 square)
- Pawn structures and isolated pawns
- Bishop and minor-piece endgames
Positional & Strategic Training Includes:
- Space control and piece activity
- Identifying and exploiting weak squares
- Piece coordination and harmony
- Prophylaxis and opponent restriction
- Long-term planning and evaluation skills
Tournament Preparation Opportunity
Students who register for the full 5-day camp will receive a $50 discount toward entry into the Goran Memorial Open Tournament held the following weekend.
