Requirements and Pricing

CCL Private Lessons

CCL is a private lesson program and we occasionally offer chess camps.  Siblings are allowed to share lessons at no additional cost.  CCL private lessons are only for chess students who have a strong commitment to improving their game.  Our students should be taking chess lessons because they want the lessons, not just because a parent believes that it would be a valuable experience. We expect our students to do some prescribed self study between lessons and to play in tournaments. The use of a computer and chess software in the study of chess is highly recommended.

We initially started as a small over-the-board chess lesson program in Columbus, Ohio.  We have since expanded to a primarily Internet based program that still gives over-the-board lessons in Columbus, Ohio and Cincinnati, Ohio.  Having the opportunity to partner with some of the top Internet coaches from around the world, we feel that we have evolved into a very high end and competitively priced program.  Presently, we coach many of the top young players in the United States, as well as top players from other countries. We believe that we can use the dynamics of the group to produce better performance for all of the students in it. We are seeking strong players that believe in being supportive of others, that see cooperation as being more valuable than competition between the players in the CCL group.

We currently have two Internet programs, CCL and Pre-CCL which is based on the skill level of the student.  General guidelines for these programs are that students with ratings over 1000 must be in CCL and players under 800 should be in Pre-CCL.  Students with ratings between 800 and 1000 can choose which program they participate in.  Listed below are the primary CCL coaches and Pre-CCL coaches, along with their cost:
