This summer, CCL hosted an exciting one-week chess camp for 14 students with ratings ranging from 1000 to 1800, bringing together a motivated group of young players eager to improve their game. Led by CCL head coach and International Master, the camp offered an intensive and rewarding training experience designed to strengthen every part of a player’s chess foundation.

Each day featured three hours of lectures covering a wide range of essential topics. Students studied six common opening lines for both White and Black repertoires, worked on advanced calculation skills in the middlegame and endgame, and learned key positional strategies that help players make better decisions in practical play. The training was demanding, but the students responded with focus, energy, and enthusiasm throughout the week.

In addition to classroom instruction, the camp emphasized competitive practice over the board. Every day, students played 4-round rated rapid tournaments and 5-round blitz tournaments, giving them valuable opportunities to apply what they learned in real game situations. These daily events helped sharpen their tactical awareness, time management, and fighting spirit.

The momentum continued after the five-day camp, as several students carried their training into the weekend by participating in our memorial open tournament. Their hard work paid off with section prizes and important rating gains, making the camp experience even more memorable and rewarding.

The summer camp was a great success, combining serious instruction, competitive practice, and real tournament experience. Most importantly, it gave students the tools and confidence to keep growing as chess players. We are proud of everyone who participated and look forward to seeing their continued progress in future events.
