The CCL Chess School

Chess, Community and Learning

Chess lessons and more, for players of all strengths and ages.

Student Assessments

Student Assessment Reports

At the request of the CCL PTO, we are implementing a couple of features that will both allow the parent to be more aware of how their child is performing and well as how to improve their performance.  There is a free and a paid service that fall in this domain.  The CCL PTO is welcome to suggest improvements to this process in the future.  What is documented below is the current state of these projects.

Free Student Review

To be performed 3 times per year for parents of K-12 students who have at least 4 hours of lessons (CCL minimum) during the previous 4 months.  You should receive this concise but relevant report during the first 7 days of March, July, and November.

If the parent does not get a response within the first 7 days of the specified months, then they should email their coach.   If another week passes without a response, then the parent should contact Alan acasden@insight.rr.com and Atanas imkizov@gmail.com .

  • If the student has more than 1 coach, then the coach that gives the most lesson and is responsible for the report. He is responsible for contacting the other coach(es) for their feedback.  If the student takes about the same number of lessons from two coaches, then we will follow the following hierarchy to determine who is responsible for the report
    1. Alan Casden
    2. Atanas Kizov
    3. Vladimir Kizov
    4. Zoran Arsovic

The report is automatically placed in a database and sent out to the parent, Alan, Atanas, and the coach.  The parent is welcome to respond for any desired clarifications.

Paid Review – $300

Leveraging the power of having multiple high end coaches in CCL, we are going to offer a new paid service for a more detailed analysis of the student chess strengths, weaknesses, and direction for the future.  The student would answer a short questionnaire and return that along with 3 wins and 3 loses, in pgn format, that are typical of their play.  All three coaches will study the questionnaire and games independently.  They will then have a Skype meeting to discuss their observations and suggestions for improvement.  Alan will write up a report on their conclusions and send it back to the parent.  After reviewing the report, the parent can request a Skype meeting with their involvement or additional written feedback.

The team composition will be; the student’s coach, IM Atanas Kizov, and NM Alan Casden.  If the student’s coach is Atanas or Alan, then IM Zoran Arsovic will be added to the team.  This service can be purchased on our Payments page.
