In the area below, please let us know how you think that we can improve the CCL Chess School or any other anonymous content that you would like to send our way.
Latest values:
  • Nothing at all
  • Maybe have stuff like camps in california
  • CCL is great just the way it is!
  • a monthly casual play event (especially in the summer) in Cincinnati would be nice for the CCL kids to be able to interact and get to know each other.
  • Add more info about discounts for memberships on ICC Add a evening rated tournament to chess camp: 25 minutes with 5 second delay
  • Discounts for family members to join. Making the classes the more cheap.
  • As a chess school if we could get all students who located in one place for meetup to play chess would be good. It will give time for kids to learn and play each other with in class school. Also if coaches can give free group lecture to kids via Skype or icc. About explain a game they played , like St. Louis Ben fine gold. Kids will get to know more about their coaches better than their individual scheduled time.overall CCL have great coaches and kids are ver happy and feel confident in the way they are learning.
  • have more good games with annotation which the students play in the important tournament.
  • Periodic evaluations of the kid’s games so that we parents can see if progress being made.
  • The length and number of students should determine the cost of the camp. I would be more interested in chess camp if the student behavior was better. It is distracting and difficult to learn chess when students are not well behaved. Someone should be in charge of student behavior.
  • CCL-only tournaments. Rated or unrated, doesn’t really matter. Then ask the students to annotate their games and include all the results and annotated games in the next newsletter. I think CCL needs more collaboration between students, so this way students’ games are published within CCL and they can prepare for each other and analyze each others’ games in order to beat each other.
  • 1. The current coaches are great. But if CCL can have more local coaches to increase over-the-board lessons, it might help. 2. The CCL’s website can be more informative. Tournament information, articles from advanced players sharing their experiences in marquee tournaments…
  • I think to continue trying to expand, and setting up bases like in Columbus in other states would help grow CCL hugely.
  • Great people and coaches. I wish there was something around Cincinnati.
  • Possibly add some non-chess activities to improve team bonding. Like chess-soccer
  • maybe you can get more coaches for more variety because ccl has so many students. That way some coaches won’t get really tired
  • I think we should have more tournaments where we represent CCL.
  • Any events that get students to hang out together – maybe a monthly group class would be great (esp. in Columbus). The strength of CCL is the number of advanced and chess crazy students you have under one roof. Setting up opportunities for them to interact, I think is valuable.
  • Can’t think of anything
  • I think that more female coaches would help.
  • I’d like to see some cohesive long term plan for new students in order to be able to check on their progress and effectiveness of lessons.
  • I think a future goal for CCL would be to open up centers where coaches can teach. It can even be like the headquarters of CCL. As of now, there is some fininacial tightness regarding where camps (and other events) can be held. Life would be a lot easier for both parties- students, parents and coaches- if there was a set area to come to for any chess events. On top of this, the area could be used to prepare for big tournaments and forms of instruction, like a camp. Maybe not right now, but I would say a couple years or so down the road there should be a center or someplace for everyone to learn, gather and have fun at!
