Goran Vojinovic
March 1, 1963 – July 1, 2016
Goran Vojinovic was many things to many people. He was a teacher, mentor, adviser, advocate, inspiration, and coach, but most of all he was a caring and compassionate human being. Goran’s passion began with playing chess and then it became teaching chess. He was a great teacher because he gave each student what they needed. He always pushed them to be their personal best, but supported them no matter what. Although Goran was an International Master, IM Goran Vojinovic, he proudly declared he was a teacher first, Coach Goran. Coach Goran’s memory and legacy will live on through his many students.

Goran Memorial in The Park
Sunday, July 31st 3:30 – 6:00 PM
Fancyburg Park, 3375 Kioka Ave, Upper Arlington, OH 43221
Nani Carroll has set up a short memorial for Goran in a park. A number of students and friends talked about their experiences with Goran and we all reflected on what he meant in our life. It was our way of finding some closure and to start the process of moving on. After the memorial, there were a bunch of chess pieces flying as his student’s did what Goran loved the most, playing chess.
Speakers at the event were:
